Giving AI a Hand: Xynova Brings Physical Dexterity to Web Summit 2026

The robotics unicorn will showcase Prima 1 and Flex 2 in Lisbon, alongside a founder keynote on “The Dexterity API for the Physical World.”

LISBON, Portugal, October 20, 2026 — Xynova, a developer of dexterous robotic hands and manipulation solutions, will exhibit at Web Summit 2026 in Lisbon, showcasing two complementary approaches to giving AI the ability to act in the physical world. Visitors to the company’s booth (booth E109) can explore Prima 1, its direct-drive hand for advanced robotics research, and Flex 2, its hybrid-drive hand designed for real-world applications. Web Summit will also mark Prima 1’s European debut. Attendees can watch live physical manipulation demonstrations at the booth and test the hands with a range of everyday objects.

Founded in 2024, Xynova achieved unicorn status in less than two years. The company has raised RMB 1.5 billion, approximately US$220 million, from leading investors including CATL, Xiaomi, JD.com and Meituan. These industrial backers bring connections to potential applications across electric vehicles, consumer electronics, e-commerce and local services.

As AI moves into robots, understanding an instruction is only part of the challenge. Picking up an unfamiliar object, adjusting a grip or handling something fragile requires coordination between sensing, control and mechanical design. For robotics developers, the hand is a critical connection between an AI system’s decisions and the work it can perform.

At Web Summit, Xynova will present its vision for “the dexterity API for the physical world”: making dexterous manipulation a capability that robots can use across different tasks and environments. The vision connects the company’s hardware engineering with a broader question for physical AI: what does it take to turn intelligence into useful action?

Two Architectures, Complementary Roles

Xynova’s product portfolio addresses both the development of robot intelligence and its application.

Prima 1 is a 22-degree-of-freedom hand built around a fully direct-drive architecture. Its force transparency supports researchers working on manipulation experiments, data collection and algorithm training.

Flex 2 combines tendon-driven and direct-drive mechanisms in a 23-degree-of-freedom hybrid architecture. Weighing 400 grams, it balances dexterity, load capacity and precise manipulation for practical applications.

Together, the two platforms support a development cycle in which research and training inform deployment, while experience from physical tasks feeds further improvement.

Xynova develops key components, sensing and control technologies in-house. Its 5,400-square-metre manufacturing facility in Hangzhou supports production and customer delivery.

While continuing to deepen its presence in China, Xynova is actively expanding relationships with customers, universities and ecosystem partners across Europe and the United States. Its participation in Web Summit provides an opportunity to meet these communities in person and explore research collaborations, product integration and commercial partnerships.
